In Revelation 12:1 “a woman” is described in verse 1 with language from Genesis 37:9-10, used there to identify Jacob and the twelve tribes of Israel. In other words, in Revelation 12 the woman represents Israel, the descendants of Jacob. In Revelation 12:17 “the rest of her children” is defined by the phrase “who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus,” the phrase used throughout the book with variations to identify true Christians.
