A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In John 6:26-30 the center and climax is the answer to the question “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” is “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent” (John 6:28-29).
