The Chiasm of Matthew 5:1-20
A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 5:1-20,the center and climax is that, since Jesus is the light of the world, his followers are to let their lights shine (Matt 5:14-16.
