A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Luke 4:31-41 the center and climax Jesus after healing Simon Peter’s mother-in-law on the Sabbath, when the sun has gone down, heals all the sick who were brought to him (Luke 4:38-40).
