A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. Typically whatever is in the center of the chiasm is what is being emphasized. In 2 Chronicles 36:23, the emphasis is on the fact that God charged Cyrus the king of Persia to build the temple in Jerusalem .A”Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, Bhas given me all the kingdoms of the earth, Cand he has charged me to build him a house at (Hebrew bi-) Jerusalem, C’which is in (Hebrew bi-) Judah. B’Whoever is among you of all his people, A’may the LORD his God be with him. Let him go up.'”
