A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Acts 1:1-11 the center and climax is the words of Jesus, “John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts i:5).
