A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In John 1:3-10 the center and climax is the introduction of John the Baptist who was sent by God to be a witness for Jesus so that all might believe through him (John 1:6-7).
