A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In John 2:13-25 the center and climax is when “the Jews then said to Him, “What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?” Jesus answer was, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up” (John 2:18-19).
