The Chiasm of Luke 23:1-4
A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Luke 23:1-4 the center and climax is Pilate asking Jesus if he is Christ the King he is accused of claiming to be, Christ’s answer is “It is as you say” (Luke 23:2b-3).
