A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Luke 23:32-43 the center and climax is sodiers mocking Jesus sayying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.” But the inscription above him said, “This is the King of the Jews” (Luke 2335-38).
