A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Luke 9:46-48 the center and climax is Jesus saying, “Whoever receives this child in My name receives Me, and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me” (Luke 9:48a-d).
