A chiasm is a literary structure where themes of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Luke 9:51-19:44 the center and climax is where when Jesus was asked the question, “Are there just a few who are being saved?” he answered. “Strive to enter by narrow gate; for many I tell you will seek to enter and will not be able” (Luke 13:23-24).
