The Chiasm of Mark 1:1-15
A chiasm is a literary structure where the vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Mark 1:1-15, the center and climax is John the Baptist saying, “I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit” (Mark 1:8).
