The Chiasm of Mark 15:40-47
A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Mark 15:40-47 the center is Pilate learning from the centurion that Jesus was dead so that he could release his body (Mark 15:44-45a).
