The Chiasm of Mark 9:38-41
A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Mark 9:38-41 the center and climax is Jesus telling his disciple not to hinder a non-disciple from casting out demons in Jesus’ name (Mark 9:38a-39b).
