A chiasm is a literary structure where vocabulary of the first section of a passage is repeated in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Mark 9:49-50 the center is “Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again?” (Mark 9:50a-b).
