A chiasm is a literary structure where the wordsof the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 17:10-13, the climax is Jesus saying that an Elijah is coming in the future who will restore all things but also that another Elijah already come in the person of John the Baptist (Matt 17:11-12a).
