A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 22:15-22, the center is Jesus’ answer to the question regarding paying the poll tax to Caesar (Matt 22:17-21).
