A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 23:36-24:51 where Matthew gives the details of the end times, the center and climax is “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations” (Matt 24:14a).
