A chiasm is a literary structure where the words or themes of the first section of a passage are repeated in reverse order in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 5:43-48, the center shows that tax collectors and Gentiles all love those who love them (Matt 5:46-47).
