The Chiasm of Matthew 9:14-15
A chiasm is a literary structure where the words of the first section of a passage are repeated in the second. The center of the chiasm is typically the climax of the passage. In Matthew 9:14-15, the center is “The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them” (Matt 9:15a-b).
