The Bible begins with a formless and void earth (Gen 1:2) and ends with the destruction of the present earth (Rev 21:1). It begins with a water covered earth (Gen 1:2) and ends with a new earth with no sea (Rev 21:1). It begins with the Holy Spirit hovering over the earth in the glory cloud.(Gen 1:2). When the inner reality of the glory cloud is revealed, we see God in his heaven (Ezek 1:5-28). What corresponds in the New Testament to the glory cloud is the New Jerusalem, the abode of God, which will come down to the new earth so that for all eternity God will dwell among his people (Rev 21:1-3; 21:9-11).
