The Topical Chiasm of Genesis 1:1-2:3
A chiasm is a literary structure where the themes of the first section of a passage are repeated in inverted order in the second. In Genesis 1:1-2:3 the emphasis is on the earthly kingdoms of the first three days of creation (Gen 1:3-13) and on the earthly kings of the second three (Gen 1:17-31).
